The #eLAfashion team has officially hit the conference floor. We are on the lookout for the bold, the beautiful and the brilliantly individual – the outfits that tell a story, celebrate culture and make eLearning Africa such a stylish gathering. We have already started capturing some of the standout looks from today, with more fashion moments to come throughout the conference.
Day 1:
It’s #FuguWednesday today. Like people across #Ghana, KINGSLEY BOACHIE is wearing his fugu with pride. This traditional smock, originating in the north of the country, is handwoven on narrow looms. Wearing it on Wednesdays is a popular way of celebrating Ghana’s heritage, identity and unity. They are beautifully stitched as you can see on the one Kingsley is wearing today, featuring bold stripes and a unique silhouette. We at #eLAfashion salute all the participants we have seen wearing the fugu today. Perhaps it is time for UNESCO to recognise this valuable cultural phenomenon.

MANZAMASSO KPELOU displays a cross-border melange here. His suit is tailored in a Nigerian style using a colourful batik print made in his native Togo. This epitomises the cooperative spirit of #eLearningAfrica, well done Manzamasso!

The home side does not disappoint. #Ghana is a textile powerhouse, which is well showcased here by RAFIATU ACHEWORON BAWA. The artisanal kenta fabric styled with the sparkles of her black headscarf is a killer look. #eLAFashion is spoilt for choice here today.

#TeamTogo is really turning heads today. Fandoumi glows in this stunning sunshine coloured batik print from her homeland. She designed the outfit herself and told #eLAFashion that she wanted a practical, flexible and stylish ensemble that reflected Togo. We think she’s really going for gold here in #Accra!

NAPO GNOFAM SKULLVI from Togo sports a dapper Prince of Wales Check in this outfit for Day 1. His sister made the suit for him, especially for #ELA26. She has done an amazing job. Just look at the black detailing which sets off the check beautifully. The tailored cut really suits Napo, demonstrating a sibling’s touch and affection.

Stay tuned for day 2!
