Education should be free, available and accessible to everyone. Those sentiments from article 26 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights rang so true for us that we named our initiative after the article. We created Article26 to build a platform that connects global companies, NGOs, NPOs, educational institutions and most importantly: learners.

At Article26, inclusivity is our guiding principle. We envision a world where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to top-tier educational opportunities. This includes students, the unemployed, the underemployed, and those navigating the freelance or gig economies. By bridging the gap between industries, NGOs, educational institutions, and learners, we’re forging a collaborative community dedicated to educational excellence.

The best things in life are free – like our e-learnings

In line with our commitment to global education, Article26 is spearheading initiatives to cultivate a skilled workforce in Africa. By providing free access to a Learning Management System (LMS) and offering certified e-learning courses, we’re driving sustainable development in developing countries. Our curriculum covers a wide array of topics, including project management, agile product development, and IT service management, with more courses being developed continuously.

For our initiative, we chose the e-learnings and courses that – in our estimation – are the best preparation for the job market of tomorrow.

● PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is most well-known in the UK and in EU- countries and its government entities. The PRINCE2 certifications focus on directing, managing, and delivering projects across all phases. The PRINCE2 Foundation certification is an entry-level credential that tests basic project management terminology and methodology, and is targeted at aspiring project managers, project board members, team managers, project assurance professionals, project support professionals, and operational line managers or staff.

● ITIL (short for Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a globally recognized framework of best practices for IT service management. It’s widely used, therefore considered the de facto standard for improving the quality and performance of services provided to customers. The goal is to create value for the consumer, and to satisfy user demand or opportunities in the marketplace. This certification is primarily for IT managers, practitioners and support staff involved in the strategy, design, and implementation and on-going support and delivery of business IT services. This may include business analysts, business relationship managers, project and programme staff.

● Scrum is a lightweight framework that enables people, teams, and organizations to generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems. The use of agile methodologies, such as with Scrum, has become standard, so it’s not surprising that IT practitioners uniquely qualified to manage projects in agile environments are in high demand. It is suited for anyone interested in agile environments such as start-ups, project & product managers, software developers & engineers, QA analysts, testers, business analysts and team leaders.

Supporting Our Participants

We go beyond simply providing resources; we offer comprehensive support to ensure the success of our participants. Through a blend of self-paced e-learning, live online sessions, practical scenarios, and skills training programs, we equip learners with the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital landscape.

● Online Live Sessions once a week, the corresponding learning nuggets are available in the LMS.
● Localized practical scenarios are integrated to facilitate the direct application of learned concepts in familiar environments. These scenarios are crafted based on the real-time challenges encountered within the learners’ communities.
● Skills training in the Soft Skill Lab Program to prepare participants for the job market.

Sustainability is more than a buzzword for us

Sustainability isn’t just a goal; it’s a mandate. Article26 is firmly committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goals 4, 8, 10, and 17. Through our initiatives, we strive to promote quality education, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, and global partnerships.

This is how we plan to achieve this:

1) Support for marginalized target groups from the Global South by providing access to vocational training through certified and skills-based e-learning.
2) Build support systems to help learners pursue long-term and sustainable employment.
3) Collaborate with local and global stakeholders to drive comprehensive systemic change to promote education.

Born in 2022, but with 30 years of experience

What sounds like every recruiters dream candidate is actually our origin story.

Our parent company Maxpert is an accredited training house and market leader in Germany, advising international companies like SAP and Deutsche Bank on the use of project management, service management and agile methods.

The genesis of the Article26 initiative stemmed from a moment of inspiration during the eLearning Conference in Ivory Coast 2019, attended by a Maxpert staff member. Recognizing the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of eLearning in Africa, the Article26 initiative was conceived and officially launched in 2022.

Article26 provides equal opportunities for both males and females. To date, Article26 has supported numerous organizations and public institutions in Rwanda, including WeCode, in collaboration with partners such as GIZ, the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Kepler College, African Leadership University, and many others.

What’s Next?

As we look to the future, our focus remains steadfast. We’re committed to supporting learners in the
Global South and growing our community of stakeholders and partners. Our cause is a marathon, not
a sprint – but we are prepared.

We work with organizations & companies in Rwanda, incl. non-profits, for-profits & educational institutions. Our partners source motivated and digitally savvy learners and provide adequate
training.
