From Egypt to South Africa, ThinkQuest is enabling teachers to integrate online learning projects into their classroom curricula. The Project Learning Institute, a professional development programme for educators, has proven successful in showing African teachers how to incorporate project-learning concepts and technology into the classroom. In Egypt, the Oracle Academy is helping students develop the technology and business skills required for 21st-century careers in the country’s growing IT sector. In Oracle’s fiscal year 2009, over 39,000 students participated in the Oracle Academy in Egypt. In addition to these programmes, Oracle supports the goals of regional initiatives such as the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
