“It’s not until you struggle with something, and I mean struggle to a point of it being problematic, that you are uncomfortable enough to find a solution”.
Addressing the education crisis is something Kwame sees as a persistent challenge across the continent, and is exactly what pulled him into the world of EdTech. Years of experiencing old-school teaching methods, where he struggled to grasp basic concepts and watched those around him face the same challenges, revealed that this was not just a personal problem, it was a systemic issue across the continent. This realisation became the catalyst for his commitment to confronting the urgent shortcomings within the education and EdTech landscape.
Kwame recalls a moment six years ago, when he enrolled in a course designed for adult learners, driven by curiosity and genuine enthusiasm to learn. Yet that excitement began to fade as the lecturer read monotonously from notes, replicating the same rigid, outdated methods he had struggled with throughout his youth. The realisation was stark: the barriers he faced were the same ones countless children encounter every single day. In that moment, a quiet yet resolute conviction took hold, he would dedicate himself to ensuring that the spark of curiosity in children’s minds, hearts, and eyes never fades.
From that moment, the Afro-EdTech Enthusiast was born, driven by a mission to transform how children experience knowledge across the continent. It would act as a progressive new media space dedicated to sharing stories, showcasing innovations, and fostering conversations about education technology in Africa.

Building on these initiatives, Kwame envisions a rapidly evolving EdTech landscape across Africa. Over the next five years, he predicts that hybrid learning will become standard, with teacher training shifting to digital-first models to ensure educators are fully equipped for the classroom of tomorrow. He imagines that AI will be introduced as a tool to enhance, rather than replace, teaching. For him, the challenge and the opportunity lies in modernising education itself to accelerate meaningful change.
Kwame sees Africa’s EdTech transformation being driven by the new generation, who he classifies as ambitious, motivated, and unwilling to accept the status quo. For this generation, he highlights continental initiatives such as the AUDA-NEPAD EdTech Vision and Plan 2030, which provide a framework for harmonising standards, promoting collaboration across borders, and supporting scalable solutions, as a key enabler of a better future. Within this ecosystem, he imagines a solution like RESPECT offers a practical way to tackle one of the continent’s persistent challenges: fragmented systems and limited interoperability among EdTech platforms. By enabling a single login to access multiple quality solutions, this Digital Public Infrastructure for Education simplifies adoption for users while giving Ministries of Education tools for localisation and control over data privacy. He believes that RESPECT represents an essential infrastructure that can foster healthy competition, showcase Africa’s most promising EdTech innovations, and generate impact on a continental scale.
But transforming Africa’s education landscape requires more than just technology advancements, it demands a shift in how we tell its story. In this context, Kwame believes that hosting the eLearning Africa 2026 conference in Ghana is timely and “more than symbolic,” as it signals that Africa is shaping its own future. The event provides a platform to showcase local innovations, discuss infrastructure, access, and affordability, and explore opportunities for collaboration, while learning from global trends to ensure Africa’s EdTech ecosystem continues to grow and scale.
Finally, his call to action was simple but resonant: “Let’s stand together. Let’s share infrastructure. Let’s elevate teachers. Let’s fund African innovators. Let’s createproductive ecosystems, not isolated projects.” For Kwame, education is the catalyst that will shape Africa’s tomorrow.
